We had a fantastic IWD panel discussion within my organisation which was insightful and engaging. Wonderful to hear from our people and the diverse thoughts, questions and feedback.

We have amazing women across our organisation and it was inspiring and thought provoking to read their views and experiences.

It’s so important we remain vigilant on our unconscious bias. Our brains process 11 million bits of information per second, our minds can only consciously process 40 to 50 bits per second. We are wired to introduce mental hacks to manage this which include applying assumptions, educated guesses, or past experience to simplify and make sense of the world. We are also shaped by our upbringing, social and culture influences, and learned experience.

By becoming self aware, we can challenge our views, question our assumptions and consider alternatives. Be curious of the world around us, seek to understand and listen. On becoming self aware, we can support others, having constructive and respectful conversation.
